Grieving is difficult when we do not want to feel the pain associated with our loss. The loss we've just experienced also becomes a cue to our mind and brings up all similar pain from the past. Thus, we are being affected by pain of loss in the present and pain of loss from the past. This much pain is too much to bear, so we resist it. But, we really shouldn't avoid emotional pain. Relief comes from having the pain...experiencing and expressing it. When expressed it has left you...it is no longer in your mind affecting your stability. Seldom does it take more than one breathing session to resolve this problem. The breathing dissolves our barriers allowing our emotions to come up to consciousness where we experience and express it...and grieve. |
