In 1976 I had a strong emotional conflict that I could neither understand, avoid or resolve and I lapsed into a painful clinical depression. I went to a psychiatrist once a week for eight months...with no healing results. I kept waiting and wondering how in the world talking was supposed to diminish the pain of the depression and to heal me? The drugs he prescribed barely helped...and certainly not the chat. They were eight very painful and very wasted months of my life. Then I learned about megavitamin therapy...healing depression with nutrition and large doses of vitamins. I found a holistic practitioner in Brooklyn, where I lived at the time...Dr. Warren Levin (now practicing in Vienna, Va.)...I put myself in his hands and in seven weeks was entirely healed. Although healed of the depression I found I was emotionally unstable...I was one big button that was easily pressed. Just the wrong look or word and I was major ticked off. I was not easy to be with. I went for therapy for four years and little was accomplished. The psycho-therapies...or psychotherapists...were ineffective...for me. I gave up and for another four years did nothing. Then, on the last weekend of June 1984 I discovered yoga breathing. I had a session on Saturday and one on Sunday. By the end of the second session I was healed of emotional instability. In just two sessions I got my life back. With yoga breathing I awoke to many truths about the psyche: |
• |
That we are soul, not brain matter. |
• |
That the psyche never suffers intrinsic pathology. |
| • |
That
memories and emotions are not stored in the psyche but in the body. |
| • |
That the psyche is subjected to energies, located in the body, and are the direct cause of the psyche's challenges. |
| • |
That
emotions are energies that can be removed from the body, with yoga breathing. |
