I am not a psychiatrist, a psychologist, a psychoanalyst or a psychotherapist. I practice yoga breath therapy...pranayama...an ancient spiritual healing process whose powerful healing faculties address the body, the mind and the soul. I am asked how can I practice what proves to be a very effective form of mental therapy without a Ph.D, a license or some kind of certification. None of these documents are required and never should be. The breathing rhythms I teach are a natural healing process...a spiritually innate healing function...that everyone was born with but few are aware they possess. I provide my clients knowledge of a natural function they would have learned from their parents, had they known of it. Parents should not be obligated to acquire such documents to teach their children innate healing. Some psychotherapists use this breathing process. They have every right to it since it belongs to everyone by right of being human. They do not have sole right to it, as some would like. That would be unethically and illegally appropriating a natural human function. Am I ignorant of conventional clinical psychology? Not at all. My knowledge is quite adequate, having acquired it at two of the most respected institutions...the school of hard knocks and out in field. This does (and must) include knowledge of the mind, on which I lecture. Finally, this breathing is not therapy of the psyche...it is therapy of the mind, where we store memory...the entire body. It must be recognized that all of the psyche's problems lie in the body/mind, not in the psyche itself. I guarantee my services means I accept payment only if yoga breathing gets its job done...bringing up emotion to be embraced and released by you. |
Yoga breathing is called rebirthing, conscious breathing, cosmic breathing, vivation, holotropic breathwork...alternative to psychotherapy.
